Is there anywhere that one can find the definition of the resptive securities in Datalink. This is particularly important for indices where ot appears there are numerous symbols representing the same thing. For example .GSPC and .SPX are they the same? Also was trying to find the symbol for cash gold.

Some look the same on the surface, but are a little different...
For example, gspc is listed under the gics classification system, spx isn't.
Not sure about your "cash gold" question... don't know what you mean. You can search you indices by name in addition to symbol. Perhaps that will help you find what you're looking for.
