Is it possible to creat and plot a customized board market index (BMI) in Metastock 9.0? For example, BMI = number of shares with closing prices above 50 days moving average / total number of shares; total number of shares = total number of shares included in a "Favourite" folder... Thanks

Check out the forum.dll custom indices function. You may be able to manipulate it to get what you're looking for.

Thanks but I have not worked with dll before. Hope the learning curve is not steep. Are there other alternative solutions?

You could consider using the security() function. But, it will only handle a limited number of securities depending on a character count to the source path. I forget the practical limit, but I think I was able to track about a dozen securities. This won't help you if you're trying to create a custom 100 or 500 type of index. Alternatively, you could consider DDE. The limitation here will be the charting... at least the limit to my knowledge of using DDE. You could create an active chart in a program such as Excel, but it wouldn't have the function of a MS chart. Just eye candy. The numbers part of your quest could easily be tracked this way though.
