andy had the unenviable task of searching for the needle symbol in a haystack the other day, joetrade found it.... symbols can be elusive.... my solution was to list them in word doc's or similar, that link has 23000.... it allows for the search function for symbols which beats the heck outa dragging out the ole metal detector.... if your not sure of the entire name, just typing in as many letters as possible will help the search.... try it....
of course lists such as that have other uses.... we might be able to guess the ticker for ibm but might not be sure if it’s a member of the s&p 100 or which sector it’s in.... same deal, just search for ibm....
want trin but not sure , search for trin and keep clicking find next till you’ve found the one of interest.... an important quirk to that search function, it’s an up or down but not both.... so you might have to change directions ....
patrick had posted a broad market sym file a while back, its not listed in the downloads though..... creating stripped down folders can streamline the operation..... his symbols could be just as easily added to the s&p 500 folder.... that has been my theme of late, combining and condensing into one folder.....
when all else fails, don’t forget to search the crash test dummy’s..... h
