I use favorites lists a lot and like to scroll through entire folders using a single chart. I would like to do the same when using a layout with multiple charts, but have difficulty. Setting is correct, and using the choose security box to the right bottom of the chart i can scroll through the securities that happen to be there, but cant get to the favorites folder that way.
Also, when i put a security name/symbol in through the choose security box at bottom right, it frequently comes up blank. The security data is fine, as if i open a single chart(not a layout) all the data and chart i fine.
Any ideas on how to scroll through a favorites folder using the multiple charts-layout?
Any idea why the charts come up blank as decsribed for securities where i enter the name/symbol? The charts open and label with the security name, but there is no data/plots-
Thanks

hey kadip.... the favorites folder is not a standard folder... it's best thought of as a folder of shortcuts to other folders..... being such, certain type files associated with layouts can not be saved in it.... its those missing files that are creating your problem with layouts..... i had given that much thought a while back and drew a blank.... you can of course create another folder yourself which could achieve your goals.....
most often the blank chart deal is in the settings.... some how occasionaly my x or y axis settings will be way out of scale.... check your 'displayed' dates...... holler back if ya don't follow.......h

Thanks Hayseed- got it working- appreciate the help- do you know by chance hot to get the security data reference function to work? I' trying to use it in an indicator, and the system keeps telling me theres no such file , even tho the file ref is exactly as shown in the help, and ref to the file location is perfect- i tried the 2-3 different ways to do as shown in help without success- have any success in using that function?

Kadip-
Make sure your security file is in the specified location and that there is data in the file. Then, try something like this:
[code:1:c894d02a29]x:=Security("C:\\Metastock Data\\US&SPX",C);
x[/code:1:c894d02a29]
This function is available in MS 7.0 and later.
