Hi,
I have created my own expert, using my own indicators. Usually it works fine. Sometimes, however, after browsing a few stocks, the expert ribbon disappears and system CPU consumption goes to 100% (almost all used by the MsWin process). Things don't go back to normal until a) I close metaStock; b) I kill the MsWin process. After doing this, restarting MetaStock and opening the same security that previously failed the expert ribbon is now displayed OK and continues to work OK until I browse a few more securities, when the problem recurs again.
NB the problem occurs more frequently if I open the securities over a longer time period (i.e. display more data).
Is this a known issue and is there a solution to it: it's extremely annoying and time-wasting!
TIA.
Mark

without seeing the code for this expert, I can only guess what the problem is!
1: Are you opening 1 chart at a time or 20 charts at a time?
1A: How many chart are open at one time?
1B: If you only have 1 or 2 charts open and the expert works ok then it's not the expert
2: How much data are you loading into a chart?
2A: try loading 1000 bars of data, expert OK?
3: How much memory is in your PC?
3A: increase your memory to 512 Mgs!
4: How many other programs are running at the same time?
4A: close unneeded programs
5: One of your securities has an error in it's data file!
