Quote:is it possible to export real time data to excel by macro?
I might be hung up on the word 'export'... do you mean 'copy' or perhaps 'link'? If so...
1) If you want to copy current field values, just right-click and copy, then paste into Excel. This will not update.
2) If you want to copy updating (dynamic) values, create an OLE link. This method is easy, but restrictive since the data table cannot be altered after creation. You could however extract static values from the Excel table. This is also the easiest way to copy RT indicator data. Look up 'OLE links' in the User's Manual. This method is compatible with any RT data provider. See this example: http://forum.equis.com/drm_main.php?mode=drm_file_view&cat=4&file=24

Thanks hayseed, it seems that there offers a lot of flexibility when using external formulae without compromising the efficiency!!
g_stockman, thanks for your advice re the ability to link the real time data..
BTY, where can I download the QuoteCenter's DDE tools? For your info, I am using a local data provider... I would like to try your method and there is a need to install the DDE tools...

Hey Gary-
You will need QuoteCenter to run the DDE for QC worksheet. To enable the plug-in: start Excel, click TOOLS | ADDINS, then go to C:\\Program Files\\Equis\\QuoteCenter \\XL_Files. Double-click 'btools.xla'. This will enable the macro to access information from QC. See the Quick Start Guide p.25 for more information.

hi g-stockman,
I couldn't find the folder C:\\Program Files\\Equis\\QuoteCenter \\XL_Files probably due to the fact that I installed the Signal (Broadcast Version). How can I do that then?..

I think it depends on whether your data provider offers you a DDE feature to retrieve the data into programs other than MS. While MS can communicate with your data provider, you need for Excel to communicate with your provider.
There are 3rd party programs that advertise being able to do things like this, but I don't have any experience with them. My only knowledge is with QC. Sorry. I'd check with your data provider first.
Not recommending anything, but these are some of the Google hits:
