Hey Pharm- Screening and alerts have everything to do with whatever criteria you are trying to screen for or be alerted to. The question is really vague to me. If you are having trouble with how to use the explorer or write an alert then check out the User's Manual for detailed examples; or, wherever you are getting stuck tell us exactly. Make sure you are screening enough securities. Maybe you haven't selected any securities that meet your criteria. If you are stuck with your exploration formula, maybe you can post what you have and we can help you refine it some... or just plain english what you are trying to search for. :)

hey pharmy..... yeah many computer programs, meta included, can have ya taking some asprins at times, esp when its new to you.... but meta will be far easier than that 3rd year of med school..... couple thoughts on explorations..... be sure your loading enough days , some explorations require much more than others.... cross(mov(c,3,s),mov(c,5,s)) requires far less than cross(mov(c,200,s),mov(c,50,s))..... you don't have to load every security but sometimes more is better..... after running one several times you'll get a feel for how many are needed.... the securites were rejected some explorations will naturaly return very few results, ie, most will be rejected.... some bullish type explor's will have few hits on down days like yesterday.... is any formula to find out which company will go high excluding the formula for hydrocarbons, formulas in explorations are just some conditions that have been met..... thats all.... none can can say if a company will go high.... you can use those conditions, along with money management, to make some pretty good guesses on what might be a buy or sell.... how to configer metastock to alert thats often done using the experts.... you can design your own or use some of the stock meta versions..... pull up a chart of the 'dia' and 'spy' and attach the equis macd expert, you'll see.... don't give up, keep using meta, every day it will get easier..... in no time you'll be helping us.... btw, if 'amgn' comes up with a metastock pill, keep me in mind.....h
