Can anyone tell me how to extract individual stocks from the whole database and put them into different folders? In addition, the extracted stock data from different folders should be able to updated if the whole database is updated.

hey xiaozhuang..... the easiest way is to use the downloader.... at the top under file will be the new>security..... when the dialog box comes up, there will a place to type in your symbol, such as 'csco', then change the folder name to your wants but leave the ' \\metastock data\\' part.... click save and it'll tell you that folder does not exist, click 'yes'....
now you have a folder with 'csco' in it.... add the rest and add that folder to your nitely downloads.... if ya don't follow that , holler back and i'll post it much better.....h

When you start the downloader and select download (ctrl-D), you can pick the symbols that you want to update by folder and/or security.
