Hi,
I have place all 197 US industry stocks into 197 subfolders. It is ok to use the downloader since the downloader 9 has a button(add all subfolder) for me to add 197 subfolder.
However, I am very very tired to add 197 subfolder stocks for exploration manually at one-by-one basis.
Even, I tried to add all 197 subfolders' stocks into favorites. But, it generates error(cannot open too many fils) when I open favorites.
Any one has solution?....I cry every day.
thank you
oradba

hey oradba.... sounds like jose's suggestion might be what your interested in though i have not downloaded it.....
couple thoughts here.... it is possible to put all securities into 1 folder... if that folder resides in meta's pro 9 directory its limited to 6000.... removing the almost unusable securities easily can whittle them to 6k.....
thats info only, as doing it will bring on seperate issues...
but somewhere between 1 and 197 might work better... would it be possible for you to list them by alphabet folders.... that might lower the number to 8.....
it would not interfere with your 197, it'd just be another 8 specifically used for explorations..... if your internet speed for nitely downloads is capable of course...... h

Hi ALL,
Thank you very much from you guys support...this is very important to me since I firmly applly Stan + Garyl GMMA concept.....this is the reason I store all US stocks into 197 different subfolders as representing different industries.
What a shame, I have been using spyglass (www.debry.com) for 1 year and I didn't recognise such excellent tool inside already.....really a shame....
I am extremely happy now and save a lot of my time for family....
Thank you, especically Jose....^_^

IF you are using MetaStock 9 or later, you can add them all from within the program itself without the use of an outside application.
Lets say you have all your subfolders stored within the parent folder My Stocks. When you click Add Securities in the Explorer dialog, highlight the My Stocks folder then look towards the Open button. You'll see on the right-hand side of it is an arrow point down; click on this down arrow and select "Open Folder Contents". This will add all securities from every subfolder within My Stocks.

Oradba,
I also use the Spyglass plugin. I use the ERSA and Folder Averages for the Industry Groups every day and I have also used the Cleanup utility as I find it helpful. I started with the ValuShark a few weeks ago but it was a bit involved and I haven't had a chance to go back to it. I was just wondering if you use it and if you find it worthwhile? I wanted to know if it was worth the time one needs to spend setting it all up before I spent more hours on it.
