✔ It does not support ZigZag inside formulas

✔ It does not support dynamic windows

✔ It does not support ValueWhen

✔ It limits you to 20 variables

1. Pivot / Fractal support

“Does MetaStock 20 DC support any built‑in pivot or fractal functions such as PivotHigh, PivotLow, FractalHigh, FractalLow, or any equivalent?”

If no, then we know we must use a workaround.

2. ZigZag formula support

“Can the ZigZag function zig() be used inside formulas with PREV, Ref(), or If()? If yes, what is the exact syntax for ZigZag in MetaStock 20 DC?”

This is critical because:

• Some builds support zig(C,5,%)

• Some support zig(C,5)

• Some support only chart‑level ZigZag (not formula‑level)

• Some reject ZigZag inside PREV

My last error strongly suggests my version 20 EOD build does NOT support ZigZag inside formulas, even though the documentation says it should.

3. HHV/LLV restrictions

“Can HHV() or LLV() be applied to Ref() arrays? Example: HHV(Ref(H,-3),7) Or is this prohibited in MetaStock 20 DC?”

If no, that explains why my pivot logic kept failing.

4. ValueWhen restrictions

“Can ValueWhen() be used when the second argument contains Ref() or PREV? Example: ValueWhen(PH<>0, PH) Or is this restricted in MetaStock 20 DC?”

This determines whether we can use proper pivot memory.

5. PREV restrictions

“Can PREV be used with expressions containing multiple Ref() calls? Or must PREV only reference simple variables?”

This is important because PREV is extremely limited in older builds.

6. Maximum variable count

“Is the 20‑variable limit strict in MetaStock 20 DC? Or can Expert Advisors exceed this limit?”

This affects how complex my indicator can be.

7. Swing Index usage

“Is the Swing Index (swing(limit)) intended for peak/trough detection inside formulas? Or is it only meant as a standalone indicator?”

This tells us whether Swing Index is a viable fallback.

Please point me to published information on the clarifications if there are misunderstandings above or work arounds for these limitations.  Thank you.
