Hello, Do you have MetaStock or just DownLoader? It is possible to create a custom list in MetaStock by Copy/Paste. I have added this info into an enhancement request to be able to do this directly in DownLoader as well, but I cannot say if/when this functionality would be implemented.

If your list of instruments is in a column format, you can:
1. Highlight the column in Excel and Copy the instruments to your clipboard
2. Open MetaStock
3. In the Power Console double-click on the Custom Online Data Lists (Or click Tools > Custom List Manager). 4. Click New > Online Instruments 5. In the large white box (below Sort Instruments by) you can right-click and choose Paste (or you can left-click in the box and press Ctrl-V on your keyboard) 6. Give the list a name and click Save Restart DownLoader. After you Add a data folder to the DownLoader Console, you can right-click on the folder and "Create new security...". Click the "Multiple Selections" checkbox and then click "Look-up". You should see your newly created custom list when you expand the Custom Online Data Lists section and you can use this to create securities more easily.

Hello Thanks for the reply. I have Metastock 10.1 and I think the features you mentioned need upgrade to Metastock-Version-18.... We use local data...so may not work for us. Thanks.

Hi again, if you are using an older DownLoader program (v11 or prior) there is an option to create a custom "SYM" file which can be used to create local securities as well. There is an old post that explains how you can create these at: https://forum.metastock.com/posts/m144306-How-to-create-a-custom-symbol-file#post144306 Edited by user Friday, June 30, 2023 10:17:28 PM(UTC)

Hello
I just tried this one.
I craeted one folder in desktop and named it.
In Metastock,I explored the securities with my criterion in one explorer.
In the exploration result,I highlighetd the securities i wanted to create a new file with,
i right clicked on the highlighted portion, and clicked on copy security
and then i saved those securities in the folder i had created in desktop.
The new folder now contains all the securities with the requisite metastock data format with master and emaster files....
This way we can make new security folder.
Thanks.
