As a (very) long time MetaStock user I sure would like to see the "Enhanced" System Tester live up to its name. Here are a few state of the art features that would help to bring it up to date:
1. Portfolio Analysis - That is the ability to apply buy / sell rules to a group of stocks in a portfolio, from a universe of candidates. This is a 'real world" situation; right now Tester only works on a single issue at a time.
2. Ranking Candidates - This is related to item 1 above. The selection of candidates from a univrse will require some form of ranking / evaluating the relative merits of each one.
3. Gene Optimization - Currently Teser uses the "brute force" method of testing every possibility. A more contemporary method is to use gene . parent - child evalustion methods. Much faster and likely more robust too.
4. Contour Map of Variables - The colorized "mountain - valley" contour maps of a variable (vs. return & drawdown in three dimentions.
I'm sure there are many more, but looking at the competition shows just how far MetaStock is behind in system testing.
