How do I cycle through open charts using the same template?

The "use chart as template" options allows MetaStock users to apply the template of the current chart to other charts they wish to quickly cycle through.  The "use chart as template" option is not enabled by default and must be turned on in order to take advantage of this feature in MetaStock, below details how to enable this option in MetaStock.

MetaStock 14 --> Current

  1. From the Tools menu select Options - Chart Options - select to Use chart as template (If using a layout, and want all charts in the layout to change when cycling through a list of instruments, leave Change All charts in layout checked.  We recommend leaving Keep line studies unchecked, since line studies are specific to the instruments for which they are drawn.)
  2. Select OK.
  3. From the Power Console select Charts.
  4. Select the desired instrument, or multiple instruments, from a custom online list or a public online list from the Instruments pane (bottom, left). Check the box next to the list name to select an entire list, or double-click to open a list and check the boxes next the desired instruments.
  5. From the Attachment section select to Apply Template, using the drop down menu select the desired template.
  6. Select Open Chart.
  7. This will apply the select template to the instruments.
  8. Using Next/Previous Security (arrows at the bottom right hand corner of the chart) or Choose Security you can quickly cycle through instruments, and the applied template will be retained.
