I have been using MS 11 and have several years' historical data in my system. I operate in offline mode at all times, relying on a daily download of eod prices to keep my system up to date. I have not used the Symbol Utility before. Before I install and use this Symbol Utility, I wanted to check a couple of things, please. Is it true, that if I install the Symbol Utility into my existing data folders, it will overwrite those folders, effectively deleting all my existing records? If so, I should install it into a newly created folder and then ... what? I guess copy all existing data into that new folder??? How is that done? Is there a document that explains this procedure?

Hi, The symbol utility is primarily designed for DataLink users. The utilities arrange empty security files within their relevant folder structure. You are correct in that they will overwrite any existing folder structures of the same name in the same location. Because of this, they require re-populating of all the history. So while it does create an extra large download whenever people re-run the utilities, it ensures that each folder has the most up-to-date listings.
