John, The point is that equis makes the reuters datalink and it should be able to be read by metastock without having to jump through hoops! I don't want to keep converting files . I don't want to spend extra money for data for each different program. I need that money for my kitchen remodel!

You guys are missing an opportunity to establishing a data program foothold!

Hi,

Why the periodicity of local data cannot be changed?

Thank you,
Greg

Hi,

This is something we are hoping to add by version 14. I do not think we will see this in a 13 update.

Rather than cripple useful metastock features (ie v12 no more MS format data), and then spend the rest of eternity in a vain attempt to fix the myriad of introduced bugs as a result (v13, v14, etc), wouldn't it make more sense to try and *improve* metastock with each new version, rather than the opposite as is currently equis' policy?

If you think about it in the time frame and context of Equis going private from Reuters . . . perhaps (just maybe now) the decision to use Reuters data and abandon the direct "metastock" format, was part of the business agreement to sell Equis.

As John S. stated above, the decision was made to use Reuters data going forward (i.e. captive subscriptions). I take that to mean "chiseled in stone", we can't change it. So . . . either convert, subscribe or move on. Kevin's conversion program is pretty painless, but so are other programs more powerful that MS 13 (IMHO); MetaStock needs to catch up & quickly. Just saying.

Cheers & Good Trading !

TomHam,

I totally agree with you, that they need to make a real major turn around real quick if they want to keep us traders around. I continue to use MetaStock 11, the only draw back is I no longer can use it for real time trading.

MetaStock is really way way behind the competition. And the last two versions 12 & 13 are a total waste in my opinion. And no real value, I was suck into both versions and sitting on my desk collecting dust now.

I think personally they had lost alot of users I remember speaking to a few and left it all together and moved on.

Thank You

I agree, Frank, they will lose many more users in time. It's difficult for those that have used Metatstock for years and have invested countless hours in developing formulas and explorations to move though, but I guess we'll have no choice in the end if Reuters does not have a change of policy.

I have subscribed to Reuters data a couple of times over the years and used it for about 3 months in total, but was not happy with it. There was a slight lag on opening charts and templates which I could live with, but my explorations took ridiculously long to process which
was a deal breaker for me. I would still not upgrade from my current MS10.1 if I could not use IB's API, so in time I will probably have to bite the bullet as well and move on. I do like MS, but the policy makers at Equis have little understanding of what their long-time users require.
