I have a much simpler solution: stay the hell away from MS 12, which offers nothing to make the product better for longtime users, but adds costs and incompatibilities while killing many third-party products that use local data.

Even Explorer suffers, I suspect. A routine MACDH scan I run on 9200 equities with version 11 takes about 4 minutes on my system with local data. My father, also running v11 but with an online Equis data subscription, has to wait 35 minutes to run the same scan on almost-identical hardware with very high-speed broadband. Tell us again how the loss of local data and being forced to subscribe to online data will improve our lives, Equis.

If version 13 doesn't make radical changes to restore usability, this is corporate suicide for the new product owners. I haven't seen a version change this disastrous and detrimental to a loyal user base since dBase IV. (young whippersnappers may have to do some searching to get my meaning.)

I have been a MS user from at least the '80s. Now using EOD version 11.

This is a great program. I tried MS 12 and returned it within 24 hours. MS has many great features: Explorer, Back-testing, Formula writing, Graphics, indicators (especially the 'RAD*Chandelier stops - which I put the daily stop value on the TradingView charts as a line), and the ability (in previous versions) to use 3rd party data, aka Yahoo, to load intra day data into the program using the Downloader in order to see if an indicator is approaching a 'buy' or 'sell' point.

It seems that most programs are being paired with Cloud, which can give beautiful graphics along with 'canned' indicators (I have a year's subscription to TradingView.com). But they cannot do what MS 11 does in testing ideas.

I don't know what the answer may be as to the future of MS, but I hope mine will run on any future Windows version...

Lastly, MS may want to cut back on the number of "Expert Advisors' if they are having to pay a royalty to them. You may notice that few of them include a 'System Tester', and if you've tried any of them, you know why.

+1

Love visiting this forum every month or so, just for this entertaining thread on the MS12 trainwreck.
