I appreciate where you are coming from. But I don't think you'll find this as common practice. We publish Release Notes with each release here. These list the issues that were fixed in the release.

Every software product ever created is released with known bugs. This will not come as surprise to most, but maybe a few. Complex software like Microsoft Windows may ship with thousands if not 10s of thousands of known bugs. A simple iPhone calculator app may ship with a few dozen known bugs. MetaStock is no exception to this. We prioritize our bugs based on how it affects trading results. What does this mean? We'd rather the program lock up or freeze rather than make a bad calculation, since the bad calc could result in lost money. It's that simple. A minor UI glitch would be a low priority (like the one below). The majority fall into this class of bug.

Right now a large portion of our product development resources go to fixing known bugs. We have a dedicated QA team. We use an Agile dev process that is able to adapt and respond very quickly.

I fully accept what you are saying about bugs just being a part of any software and the ongoing work to fix them. However if I have an issue with Metastock functionality I first just want to find out quickly if it is a known bug which obviously will be addressed at some stage. The issue for example with custom intraday perodicity not displaying properly......if I could have found out quickly that it was a known bug then the matter ends there......there would be no point trying to look for a solution from the online Forum , posting descriptions, other members offering suggestions etc or even contacting Equis for technical support.

You obviously have a list of known issues waiting to be addressed at future updates. Is there no way this list can be made available under Product Alerts as per my previous suggestion? Is there some protocol which makes doing this difficult? If it is possible I am sure it would save a lot of time for everyone and remove some of the frustration .

This actually gets into a technical and business area decision. I'll pass this on and see if it gets any traction. I generally like the idea of more transparency...but there are entanglements.
