In the October issue of TASC, Sylvain Vervoort refers to the Forum.dll for his Asymmetrical RSI indicator ([censored]I).
I am unable to find this dll in the forum. Has it been renamed to Forum20.dll?
Also, his code calls on the external formula, Forum.MOV.
After downloading and reviewing the latest uncompiled Forum.dll I discovered MOV is now VarMOV.
Will his [censored]I code need to be modified to read Forum20.VarMOV?
Thanks for your help!

Hi TicMarc
If your version of the Forum DLL (whatever its name) has a VarMOV function then it's an older (and smaller) file than the most recent version (circa 2006) - which is 188KB in size by the way. Go to http://forum.equis.com/files/default.aspx and click Download to the right of the " ForumDll_200" listing. Change the file name to "Forum.DLL" (or whatever name variation is required by the formula), install it in the "External Function DLLs" folder, restart MetaStock and you're away laughing.

Hi, I'm having problems installing the Forum.dll, can anyone give me some pointers as to what I'm doing wrong?
Here's my procedure:
Closed MS.
Went to the downloads section of this site and got this version: ForumDLL_200. (It's 188 kb.)
Moved it to c:/Program Files/equis/Metastock/External Function Dlls/. Went to the properties and unblocked it, and on the Security tab changed permissions so that everyone has Full Control
Tried to registyer the DLL using regsvr32 but got the error message 'The module "Forum.dll" was loaded but the entry-point DllRegisterServer was not found. Make sur ethat the "Forum.dll" is a valid DLL or OCX file and then try again."
Started MS (version 11): Tools, Indicator Builder, New, Functions, But no 'Forum' on the left hand side...
Do I have a good version? (I have MS 11 running on Windows 7.) Have I missed something in the installation procedure? Should I restart the PC?
Thanks for your help,
TimX

Did you rename the file to "FORUM.DLL"?

It was "Forum.dll" (lower case). I've renamed it as upper case, tried to register it manually, got the same error message from Windows and it's not visible from MS. So it must be something else.

You don't have register the DLL.
I've just downloaded it again from the Downloads section and saved it into the appropriate folder. I'm running XP and MS8/9 and can see the dll, so it's something either your MS11 or Win7 (I'm going to guess something in the OS)

Thanks again wabbit.
Has anyone had any luck running forum.dll on a Windows 7 machine with Metastock 11?

You should add the DLL while Metastock is closed, as it loads all DLLs at startup. restarting could solve your problem, did you try that?
Yes, it works with Metastock 11 + Windows 7 and the same Windows 8.

Although I'm not using that combination now, I have had MS11 running on Win7/64. You might have contact Equis support to work through your installation with them.

SOLUTION! I was putting the DLL in C:/Program Files/equis/Metastock/External Function DLLs, which is what the manual and the commentary in these discussions says.
When I moved it to C:/Program Files (x86)/equis/Metastock/External Function DLLs, everything was fine!
There are several other dlls in there - big clue.
Anyway, if anyone else has similar issues, this is possibly the fix.
Thanks for suggestions wabbit.

This is normal when you are running 64 bits system, as Metastock is 32 bits. You did not mention you were running 64 bits Windows (or I messed that in your post).
THIS IS FOR ANY PROGRAM 32bits running on 64 bits Windows.
64bits Windows:
C:/Program Files/ 64bits programs go here C:/Program Files (x86)/ 32 bits programs go here
