A little over a month ago, COP (Conoco-Phillips) split the company into two separate entities ... the new symbol (PSX) is the same as the old Phillips - but, after updating my symbol database, I cannot see anything more recent than April 30 (today is June 1). I have updated my symbol database, nothing. I am using the Metastock EOD program. Any ideas why I cannot access this stock? Thanks.

If you are using The Downloader and accessing the data offline (lcoally, on your hard disk), then you need to run the Symbol Utility each month to keep things up to date. Note that this will over-write all your data with empty files, and you will need to re-setup the download list.

After receiving your message, I tried using The Downloader ... same result as before when I used the "Update Symbol Database" under the "Tools" tab on my MetaStock window. Both executed to completion with a successful message.
When I click on the "Open" folder on my MetaStock window, and enter "PSX" ... the symbol appears with an asterisk ... i.e., "PSX*" and there is an "N" under the "Exchange" header. This is an active stock - I simply cannot access recent (beginning May 1) price data. I am getting current price data on other stocks within MetaStock ... just not this one. I am using MetaStock 11 with a build date of July 16, 2009.
Thanks.

Assuming you have a Reuter's Data Subscription, you should be able to access it, if you're using MetaStock in ONLINE mode. As for OFFLINE mode, since the Symbol Utility is dated 12 Mar 2012, while the stock has only been trading since 12 Apr 2012 ( according to YAHOO data), it won't be available until the Symbol Utility has been updated.

Yes - I have Data Link - and I verified it was going through the update. This is apparently a much bigger problem than I initially imagined - I simply thought I might be overlooking something. Thanks again for your help ... I'll call the technical support help line on Monday (it's too late today) and have them walk through it. I do appreciate your help - Thanks.
