Make sure you have sufficient privileges to install software on your machine; run the setup.exe with full Administrator privileges.

Hi Flexi

You're not alone with this problem. In the last 48 hours I've experienced the same thing with both MS 10.1 EOD and MS 11 EOD. I'm running XP so this does not appear to be a Windows administrator issue. As I write this I've rerun the MS 10 EXE after changing it to Windows 2000 compatibility mode and it has gone past the previous failure point. Perhaps the same remedy will work for you.

Roy how you do that?

Right click on the setup file and use window 2000 mode but the installer did not go to the installation Did you uninstall? Both the setup.exe and the startup.exe are on the task bars but the installation is not there

Have you tried COMPLETELY uninstalling ALL versions of MetaStock that might be resident on the target machine? This includes running the standard uninstaller, then manually searching looking for any remnants of files or folders left behind, and then finally removing any registry entries? (Be careful when working in the registry and always take a backup before making any changes.) The aim is to get the target machine to such a state as it was before MS was ever first installed.

After doing all of this work, shutdown and restart the target computer, login as a Super-Administrator and try reinstalling again. If the install fails, do the same clean-up (uninstallation) as described above to remove any files or registry entries that may have occurred, shutdown, restart, then try installing again as Super-Administrator and choose a compatibility setting.
