The simplest way is to use the MDK to open a pipe between applications, but another way is to create an indicator for the trading signal and then use DDE to read this value in Excel.

If you plot the code from the Expert as an Indicator on a chart, you can then right-click it, click COPY and then PASTE it into Excel. You will get the dates and signal.

Yup jj,

My post should have read OLE, not DDE.

Wabbit -- Good point. I forgot to mention that the data can be Static or Live...

Stive -- If you just want "raw" data, use Paste. It won't change, and you can modify it in Excel.

If you want a "live" link (known as OLE -- Object Linking and Embedding), which updates from Metastock the next time you open the worksheet, it's a little different.

1. Select the COLUMNS (not the cells) for the link
2. Use Paste Special
3. Select "Paste link:"
4. Click on "Csv".
5. Click the OK button.

If you don't select the columns first, the data will update, but will not "advance" over time.

You can also go from Excel and/or CSV back to Metastock, at least two ways:

1. See this.
2. There is an addon from MasterData, here.
