Hi Folks,
I've been using Telecharts for years and still love it, but I'm aware of its limitations. I'm new and still stumbling around in MS. The head picture I have of how MS works is that MS is a product that allows you to create charts with all sorts of indicators and displays, (and more), then you can pick individual securities and apply them to the various chart templates and layouts that you have created. Telecharts and Stockfinder however are watchlist based. You sort, filter and group your securities from the entire universe if you want, into small lists that meet the criteria that you created or selected from what comes with the product. Then you chart these picks to further evaluate them. That is what I would like to be able to do with my MS software. Will I be able to do that? TC is great at sorting and running securities through a gauntlet of criteria before you chart them, but the charts in MS and the drawing tools (and probably things I haven't yet discovered) are much better. If I must, I 'll use TC and Stockfinder for sorting then get the files down to 250 or less and export them to MS for further work. That's what I'm doing now, but is it because I'm not yet familiar enough with all of MS’s capabilities or are the sorting capabilities limited? I really want to export large sorted watchlists, unless I can do it all more intuitively and better in MS. Any guidance?

Look into what the "Explorer" does for you in MS and compare that to Telecharts would be my 2 cents.

yeah, the explorer should be able to do all the sorting and searching you want. You will likely need to create a custom formula for the criteria but the formula primer is a good place to start with that.

I used TC for years and found that it complimented MS well. You can't work with watchlists and groups in MS like you can in TC. However, you can't get really good TA in TC like you can in MS. I found I really needed both to do what I wanted to do. There's a reason they let you transfer from TC into MS. No, you can't sort and move items between groups like you can in TC. If you're just doing End of Day analysis, keep both and use them together. That's what I did for years.
