Greetings, I have a problem in thatMetastock does not display all the Stock (Security) data in the Downloader Database. Programmes in use are Metastock V9, IE8 and Windows XP Service Pack 3. Originally when attempting to open Metastock I got the following error message; Runtime Error Program; C:\ProgramFiles\Equis\Metastock\MsWin.exe This application has requested ther Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. I reinstalled Metastock, losing the custom indicators and favourites in the process, and that enabled Metastock to run but I could not get Metastock to display any data later than 12 August, (12/08) some 4 days previous. I then restored a new history file, did a One Click Down Load to 16/08 and converted those files did a One Click Down Load for the 17th and converted those files. There are no duplicate lines in the Database. The information shown on Metastock's X-axis properties shows the last date as 17/08 The information in Downloader's database showed the data to 17/08 but the cursor was on 12/08. If the cursor was to 17/08 and the file saved it had no effect on what Metastock displays. If I reopen the database the cursor is again positioned on 12/08. If I changed the periodicity to weekly the cursor in the database moved to 13/08. ie the end of that week but reverted to 12/08 when the periodicity was changed back to Daily. The Indicators that I have added to the screen went out to the correct date, eg 17/08. I uninstalled the latest two Microsoft Upgrades (Excell and Word) that might have been causing the problem, again uninstalled Metastock (including One Click), deleted the remaining files in the relevant directories, and then replaced the data files. No change ant the display was still "stuck" on 12/08. I then entered some daily dummy data for a stock to take the record from 18/08 to 01/09. On opening Metastock the last data shown is for the 12/08 but if I right click on that data the display now shows for 19/08 but nothing between 12/08 and 19/08. The cursor still remains on 12/08. The indicators display continuously up to 01/09.The information shown on Metastock's X-axis properties shows the last date as 01/09. I have run all my other programmes that are data base related without finding a problem. The Registry has been "cleaned" using a reputable programme but with no effect on the Metastock performance. My apoligies for the length of this post but thought it best to put the whole saga in view. Many thanks for any help that can be offered. Regards, TerryA

I probably won't be much help but the problem sounds like corrupted data in the custom formula file or duplicate data in your database.

If you reinstalled MS over an existing version the old custom formulas should be in a folder called backup in the equis/metastock/ directory, the file is called MS11FORM.dta

How are you uploading data to the Metastock database and why do you think excel would
crash Metastock?

Dear John, Thanks for your response to my problem. "corrupted data in the custom formula file" There are currently no custom indicators loaded. " or duplicate data in your database. " The sample stock has been manually checked for duplicate lines and there are none. "If you reinstalled MS over an existing version the old custom formulas should be in a folder called backup in the equis/metastock/ directory, the file is called MS11FORM.dta" Unfortunately MS was installed as a new program. Will remeber your tip for next time. "How are you uploading data to the Metastock database" The data comes as a download from InfoscanNZ. None of their other clients are experiencing any problems. "why do you think excel would crash Metastock?" No good reason but the Excell security patch was installed on the same day (12/08) as the problem began. Probably clutching at straws but I am also very aware that Microsoft have developed the Law of Unintended Consequences to a very high level. Regards, TerryA

If you right click the price plot to go into data edit mode evreything looks ok with the data?
Also might change your default template if you are using one to see if your template is giving you problems..

John et al, This morning after I downloaded the outstanding files and converted them the display still showed missing data but the tool tip showed that Metastock was recognising the data, just not displaying it. I then loaded another stock and all that data was correctly displayed. I went back to the sample stock and completely cleaned out all the indicators in the default Template and started from just the EOD pricing. For whatever reason this cleared the problem and all the data is now displayed. I am now rebuilding the default template with the Indicators I normally use and have not found any problems. Quite some way still to go though. Regards and very many thanks, TerryA

Good, sounds like you may have the problem solved. I was going to suggest you also look at load options (file/open/options) and look at tools/options/chart.options to make sure everything there looks ok.
