Hi @ all,
I am using MS 11 Pro realtime since more than one year, so I am very incorporated with this software...
But I have a few problems which are not solved jet. I realy hope on your assistance.
You can try everything what I am specifying, the eyamples a very simple...
First:
If I am using channels (e.g. equidistand channel) in combination with a security which value is very little (like most currencies or pennystocks) than I have the following problem: After drawing a channel, closeing and reopening the same chart, the channel looks like a trendline because the value (distance) between the two channel lines turned zero. Same is if I save the chart as a template. After closing and reopening everytime the distance turned zero!
Do anyone has a solution? (Mine is currently draw two parallel trendlines, but takes a lot of extra time which I do not have and do not like to spend!)
Second:
If I draw a trendline and activate the option "expand right" the trendline expands right as it should. But I can not pick the trenline anymore and go via doubleclick to the "trendline properties" if I am strong zoomed in the chart. I have to extremely zoom out before I can pick tren trenline, in most cases I have to zoom out like I can not really differentiate the trenline anymore from others. Same problem I do have e.g. with channels...
On the one hand I need really to expand trendline or other chart studies but on the other hand it take huge amount of time to redifine these chart studies because of verytime zoom out and zoom in again. It is absolutly not productive working and beside drives me nuts!!!
Third:
I had lots of conversation with equis because of slowing down MS by have many charts open with a lot of bars loaded etc. Only solution: reduce the amount of how many bars you have in the chart... all right one problem solved, next occurs immediately: I am using templates to save my chart studies. But a channel or trendline e.g. which has the starting point before the first loaded bar in the chart dissapers completely!!! Again: If you have a chart opend with loaded bars for e.g. 20 days or something and a the startingpoint of a trendline or channel was 21 days ago, it will not be plottet anymore!!! This is absolutly unacceptable!
I am a daytrader in futures, not EOD or long term... I really hope you can understand that these three problems are really huge problems for me because:
I do not have time, I need time to zoom in an out, I need time to draw trendlines instead channels and I need time to find out that I am at a border of a trendline or channel which is not plottet in my chart. This time I am loosing costs in the future markets performance.
MS is the self-proclaimed leader of charting software... And really not underpaid.
I appreciate your assistance and would be happy for every solution!
best regards

My thoughts on "First" and "Second". Have noticed the same thing but not to the extent you have seen it. I always thought it was due to indicators in the same widow not being plotted to the same scale

Thx Johnl for your reply.
Does anyone else has same problems in these essential functions? (or problems like mine)
Are there solutions, ideas how to fix, or some other thoughts about that???
!!! Please give me feedback !!!
@ all Reuters/Equis developers and members of staff: Are these problems known? Are bugfixes available or if not are bugfixes or updates in development and sometimes available (when?). Or are these problems known and will be solved in the next version of MS??? When will be next version of MS be available?
I am hopefully looking forward to many replys!
best regards

From my conversations with equis, line studies are anchored by dates/times and y-axis values. In the case of trend lines, they have a start and end anchor point. If either of those points are not in the loaded data range, the line is undefined. This is not classified as bug. It is working as it was designed. Unfortunately, it sounds like loading the data you need for the channel causes the chart to update slower than desired.
I have also seen the extend right issue. equis has confirmed this is an issue with the program. When I have seen it, it only happened when I had a short trendline and was looking a just a few bars (20 or less). When I zoomed out to show more data, I could select the trendline again.

Hi Wiked,
thx for your reply
Same was my suggestions that trendlines are defined by an start and end point. Would ebe much better if trendlines would defined by functions... Also for my opinion it is a design fault because in my case long term chart studies are hidden...
Does anyone has a idea belonging the problem with channels?
