Hi all,
afetr having experienced a sudden shut down of my pc, Metastock 11 eod cannot start anymore "File astsrv.exe missing". I have read all the posts here pertaining the same problem: re-installed Ms, copied missing file from provided link, but the error msg is the same and I still cannot open Metastock. Still the astsrv file (actually without ".exe" extension) I see it is present on SysWOW64 folder. I do not understand and do not know what else to do...

My astsrv file is in the Winn\system32 directory, I have windows XP. I would reinstall Metastock being careful if you have anywhere close to 2000 custom indicators. That would at least tell you if it is a "Metastock" problem or a "Windows" problem.

By installing MS the Astsrv file goes on SysWOW64, I have seen on similar answers that this is just as fine (I have Windows 7).
What do you mean by. "I would reinstall Metastock being careful if you have anywhere close to 2000 custom indicators." Can you be more clear? I have only about 500 indicators, not 2000...

Metastock has a limit of 2000 custom indicator so if you have close to that limit you need to make room for any additional indicators the installation will add to the list. You are OK with 500.

Problem solved. In case anyone encountered the same problem (astsrv.exe is missing error message) I copied the file from Syswow64 to system32, then right clicked on it and opened as administrator. I am not sure wether just one of the two solved the issued or both together, but MS finally opened and running.
Cheers.
