I think I've found an error in the Forum DLL Manual doc for the Variable Reference Function #3.
In the original MS Ref function, a neg Period references "n" periods ago.
In the Variable Ref function, a neg Period references "n" periods in the future.
I spent alot of time puzzling over why my code wasn't working....The misleading doc is why!
Although example 1 in the doc does give a correct explanation, the first sentence "This is the same as the MetaStock reference function except that it allows you to use a variable as periods." is misleading. It's not the same!

The Forum.Ref function was written a long time ago. It was written by "committee" and it was decided that because Forum.Ref was most likely to be used with BarsSince() that positive values shall be used to look back into history, as BarsSince() always returns a positive value.

Speaking of the forum dll ;
I wanted to play a bit with the "customIndex" function that is described in the reference manual -- but it seems to be missing in the dll (I got the forum20.dll file). Am I missing something?
(Sorry for hijacking the thread, thought that this was, well, kinda, related... [;)])

I forget all of the reasons why, but if I remember correctly the index function was removed because it contained some bugs.
I think you might still find a few legacy versions of the function flying around somewhere, and if you do, then use with caution!
