Hello. This is my first post.

I have done a search but my computer or tech talk is weak, so Ill ask here. I have created a custom indicator. Lets say H-L. Now I would like to take the open high low close data from a daily charst AND the custom indicator and export this to excel. So in excel I would see the O H L C in the first four colums and then the custom indicator in the 5th colums. It doesnt have to exactly in this order...the main thing is that I can get it there.

When viewing a chart I can right click on bar itself and select edit data. This allows me edit the O H L C data but not a cutom indicator, or even a simple MA for that mater. If I could do this then I could just copy and paste the raw data to execl. This data has to be "out there" somewhere inside MS but how do I access it?

Thanks for your time! Jim

When you right click on the prices (and indicators) you should see a Copy option. You should just be able to do this then open Excel and choose Edit-->Paste or right-click-->Paste.

That is if you just want to get a copy of the static data. Setting up an OLE link requires use of the Paste Special-->Paste Link-->CSV option.

Ok. I just want a copy of the static data. What is an OLE? Looks like it is a real time or live feed? So this would update my excel in real time if I have real time or pro version?

If I can get static data in excel then I can do backtesting. This is what I am after right now. Even if it is a custom indicator I can use the right click copy to excel right? thanks again for your valuable time! Jim

OLE = Object Linking and Embedding

It ties the MetaStock chart to the Excel spreadsheet. This means that when you open your chart, the excel data would update as well. It works well with End-of-Day. It might work for realtime, although I think most try and use DDE for that.

To your other question, OLE or just a simple Copy/Paste should work fine for Indicators as well as Price Data.
