I'd like to install Metastock on a different drive instead of the operating system (C:) drive. Can I select that during installation, and will it cause any problems?

C: will be the OS drive as normal, of course the Program Files folder will also be on C:. But I have a large second drive for data. Since Metastock stores it's data files (st_data, results, etc) in with the program file folders, I'd like to put the whole Metastock installation on the D: drive.

What about add-ins and patches, the US Daylight Saving Time patch for example? Will those operate correctly if Metastock is on a drive other than C: ?

Operating system is Windows XP SP3, with Metastock version 8.01. Searched the KB and Forum, didn't see this specific question. Thanks.

I'm not sure about 8.01, but I've been running Metastock Pro 10 / 10.1 on a ram drive, which is F drive on my system without any problems. I also run Quotecenter on C drive. Never had any problems with the programs loaded and running on different drives. Operating system is Windows XP Pro 64 bit.

Install MS where ever you like. (I have never really had a good attempt at installing MS on a thumb drive, but I don't see too many reasons why it wouldn't work?).

MS doesn't really care where the data files are located (although closer is faster!) All add-ins must reside in the External Function DLLs folder in the installation folder of MS.
