Hello,
As my computer can be programmed to start-up at a precise time (in the BIOS), I would like to make the downloder running as a service, to ensure a better security -as there is no user logged-on.
I found information about creating a service in the microsoft site -by using the command sc.exe- but I don't know to send parameter to the downloader from the command line (i.e. express download, wich i press ctrl+E in grahpic environnement).
Also, I there a way to automaticaly shut down the computer after the update is completed? Or does a java program can read a state/return of the program when the download is completed? I am not an accomplished programmer but I am learning.
Thank you

Hi eaima, Welcome to the Forum. As there is no shutdown on completion arrangement in the Downloader you might struggle doing everything you want by running the Downloader as a MS service. You can however run the Downloader in the express mode by adding "/express" to its command-line arguments, e.g. "C:\Program Files\Equis\metastock9 he DownLoader\Dlwin.exe" /express If you're running Windoze XP (is it the same for Vista?) you can shutdown the machine by using the command line, see : http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/shutdown.mspxu download your data overnight to have it available for you in the morning, why waste all that power repeatedly starting up and shutting down the computer? Although I leave my machine running almost always, I run a schedule to update all my data just before I normally get into my office. That way, my machine is switched on, all emails retrieved, web pages refreshed, all data refreshed and I am ready to start my day as soon as I want. Personally, I'd just wake your computer up about 30 minutes before you normally need it. You'll be surprised how much energy and wear-and-tear you'll save on your computer. Hope this helps. wabbit :D
