Hi,
Metatosk Pro 8 seems to have a limit of about 65500 bars (probably 65535). If i try to enter more bars with The Downloader, i get an error. Is there a workaround for this limitation? Versions 9 and 10 also have this limit? I'm working with forex intraday data.
Thank you for your help.
Jaime

I've faced the samme issue and posted a query to Equis support team. I'll keep you informed if I receive any responce from them. Generally speaking I was surprised a lot when looking for the solution of this issue I've found this: http://www.purebytes.com...tock/1999/msg05031.html. Isn't there no changes since 1999 (!) ???

The MetaStock data file format has been in its current form for a looong time; since BASIC days for those who remember such things like FORTRAN, Pascal and DOS. The 65500 data points per file limitation was implemented back then and is still with us today. The data file format is (mostly) independent of the MetaStock version. Changing the data file format would 1) be extremely "expensive" to do and would probably require a rewrite of every product which uses the format, and 2) probably cause massive disruptions to trading services. Richard Dale said more about it some time ago : http://forum.equis.com/forums/thread/26425.aspx

wabbit,
Thanks for the link. But I think that the arguments like "it will require significant efforts" can't be considered as something serious if we apply them to such solutions as Metastock (it's enough at least to look at its price and estimate their sales volume :) ). I don't think it's too expensive to get this change documented and make notifications and announcements regarding data format changes in order other software vendors could put necessary changes to their software which interacts with Metastock database.
As to increse of database size, I think it is not actual for now because capacity costs are extremely low, so that this is not the limitation. Of course, this will require a lot of work from Equis team, but anyway I think the thing is worth the effort.
WBR, Uncle_Ko.
