The "Convert" function in the downloader lets us convert selected files into ASCII format. But it doesn't let us select a particular folder. Is there any other way in which I can choose a folder and convert all the files in it into ASCII at one go.
Does Metastock provide any add-on kind of thing which we can buy?
This is very crucial for my work. I would be very grateful if somebody can help me with this.
Thanks and Regards,
accnt

You might find these freeware tools from Mansoor helpful for ASCII/MetaStock conversion. http://www.geocities.com/mimansoor/

Thank you very much for your reply Mr. Dale.
I've been using the freeware from Mansoor for the past 1 yr. But of late, the freeware is ignoring some files from the specified folder.
Why it is ignoring particular files is unknown. Also any new files created are not being converted. Do you know anything about this?
I thought if Metastock itself is providing an add-on it would work consistently.
By the way Mansoor provides versions till 1.8.4. Can I use them on Metastock 9.0 and 10.1 files. I mean to ask if there is any version compatibility problem.
Regards,
accnt

Metastock (Equis) provide the MetaStock Developers Kit where you could also do the data conversions - but you need to know a recognisable programming language.
There are other alternative libraries out there too for reading/writing the Metastock format data files.
I think it would be best if you contact Mansoor for support on his utilities though.

Thanks a lot Mr. Dale. You have been of great help especially about the MSD kit. I left Mansoor a message, yet to hear from him.
Please let me know if you know any libraries.

I'm aware of: http://www.trading-tools.com/metalib.htm as a commercial library.
plus plenty of freeware source code of varying quality that is floating around (easily located in google with "metastock data format")

Mr.Dale,
Do you by any chance have Mansoor's mail ID, other than the one posted in his website?
