I am very close to purchasing MS (EOD) package and wanted to ask people on this forum as to how easy is it to code, and more importantly, how good is the library for publicly written codes. Tradestation seems to have the most extensive and easily available codes. Thanks.

i have been using MS for some five yrs. i am an amateur trader (i have a day-time job). i have found a ton of MS code publicly available (thanks to google!) and its language friendly enough for new programmers. also, even though i have just recently joined this forum, i find it an amazing resource for MS users. my impression is that there are other more powerful languages out there but, in practice, MS has covered 99% of my needs so far. one last point: MS support is flawless.

What indicators are you using?

I use both Metastock and TradeStation ... and, although TS EasyLanguage is more robust, it's a lot easier and quicker to code for MS. And, IF you REALLY know what you are doing, the optimizer/backtester in MS is best. In order to get the same kind of optimization in TradesStation, I have to use MultiCharts + TradeStation.

This is just one example of what you can find for Metastock:
