Hi there,
My MetaStock data folder's "Sectors and Industries" and "Stocks grouped by Sector" folders in no way match the S&P categorisations: http://www2.standardandp.../index/SectorIndices.pdf
I am using a Reuters EOD data feed but this is from the CD that arrived with MS 10.1
Is there a way to have local data more aligned with GICS ?

I queried this a while back but Rueters Datalink doesn't:
a) Provide stocks divided into sectors by any known classification scheme (eg GICS or ICB) - it could be using Hemscott/Morningstar classifications where aren't widely used (you don't see any ETFs based upon that data) b) Provide classification updates on the sectors
If you really need it, time to look elsewhere.

Thanks and you are probably right, but in this case it was user error. I used the default data CD that came with Metastock and apparently you have to download a symbol updater from https://www.metastock.co...nload/symbolutility.aspx
Wish that was documented a little better and I didnt have to raise a support case but cest la vie.

Stocktrader8 is right - the symbol lists from Reuters appear to be the little-used Hemscott classifications, not GICS or ICB. You can see the popularity of classification systems by looking at the amount of ETFs based upon the classifications. I don't know of any Hemscott-based ETFs. |
