I'm currently running MS 9.1 EOD on both my desktop and notebook and they both download data individually to local databases.

Does anybody know if it's possible to move the MS data to a network-attached drive (not a full PC on the net, just a net-accessible storage system) and then access it from multiple MS copies (not simultaneously)?

I don't have a NAS drive available yet to test, but am considering buying one if this will work. Am also interested to know if v10.x will work this way - I may be forced to upgrade to work under Vista on new hardware platforms.

Thanks very much.

Yup, you can store the data on the network and access it indivudally. If both of your copies are fully licenced then you can access the data simultaneously, just make sure each running version of MS has a discrete username otherwise the record locking will cause you problems.

Note: getting data from a network device is slower than a local hardrive so explorations take a little longer to run, but this is nothing in comparison to the time to download and update multiple data sets.

Hope this helps.
