Will upgrading to metastock 10 when I have my current indicator list maxed out at the 2000
limit cause any problems. I am at 9.0. Thanks in advance. If 10.0 adds any I would think something
would blow?

Hello,

It's definitely recommended to have a buffer of free space in the indicator builder when upgrading. There shouldn't be too many new ones, but they would likely be skipped when installing the upgrade, which would cause some new features (Such as the RMO Trading Model) to not function.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll shoot for 100 spaces. If no replies I will assume that's Ok.

Actually to correct myself somewhat, your old indicators would be the issue, not the new ones. When you install a new version of MetaStock, your indicator file is backed up into a folder called "Backup" and a brand new indicator file is put in the MetaStock folder. After this, we try and import the indicators from "Backup" back into the Indicator Builder, which would fail if there were too many. 100 should be plenty of space, however.

Plenty of space to upgrade, perhaps, but no room for new formulas. We need a higher formula limit or a way to have separate folders for groups of indicators. I am presently working to eliminate duplicate formulas and many old formulas dating back to the early 90s when formulas were referenced by number and not name and things like multiple formulas in one formula, data input, etc did not exist, so I have a lot of formulas that plot the 10 period detrend, the 20 period detrend in a second formula, the 30 period detrend in a third, etc. After I am done with this task, I expect to drop about 200 formulas. I wish to keep all other formulas. It won't take long to fill those 200 formula slots.

Removing 100 indicators worked, Thanks.
Problem with the limit is that the file is compiled every time it changes, bigger the file, the slower
the app. so I am not sure I want it any slower (my guess).
But yeah, I have the same problem, lots of variations and no more room. And if I export them there is
no way of "seeing" them without importing them.
Maybe a additional export function that exports into a repository file with the same MS10FORM.DTA
format and a redirect to open that file in a "one chart" only view so you can see which ones you want to import back when you are working on a new project??[:)]
