Hi

I have just purchased Metastock 10 EOD and would like to install the system on my desktop as well as my laptop for disaster recovery reasons.

When I tried to install the license activation on the second machine the reply back was the license was in use. The only feedback I have had is to move the license to the second machine which is useless as a backup as if one machine goes down (i.e. hard drive crash) it is too late to move the license.

Support queries have not been able to respond so hoping I can get some help on here how can I have a second machine running the same software?

Thanks

I use 9.1 so it doesn't have these enforcement restrictions (one of the reasons I've no upgrade intentions) but my father uses v10. He was able to install it on both his desktop and his notebook without problems (the license permits two installs) but I believe you may have to contact the MS customer support line to get a second license number to use for laptop installation.

It should work, so don't worry. And be sure to let us all know if you're taken by storm with RMO, 'cause we're on the lookout ;-). Welcome to our geeky little clubhouse.

hey cody..... were you by chance running v10 on the desktop online while installing on the laptop.... if so, shut down the desktop , then install......

the license manager only has an impact while online.... so you could install v10 on a dozen machines, albiet legal for only 2, and no one would know.... until you go online......

v10 transmits info back to headquarters, if ya know what i mean...... h

That's unacceptable on Equis' part; keep hammering their support phone number until they make it right. You have purchased the ability to run it on two machines; hold them to it.

(You have inadvertently reinforced my decision not to upgrade from 9.1; my version has none of this crap, and your hassles are exactly what I feared would happen if I upgraded.)

My hard drive crashed this weekend. The good news is that I had backed up most of the drive within the last couple of weeks, though it is taking me days to get the new drive up to speed. I restored the MetaStock info from the backup drive but the new drive says that my MetaStock program is on a trial basis. Does anyone know which file, and where it resides, I need to copy from the backup drive to get the license onto the new drive?

I contacted Equis today and they reset my license.
