Hi,
Not sure where is the best place for my post, so if you think it belongs somewhere else please move it there.
I don’t have laptop and for 4 months I don’t think there is enough usage time to warrant the purchase.
My question is, can I put my Metastock disk on External Hard Drive, take my Metastock disk should I need to go through verification process and use somebody else’s computer to run Metastock for my trading while I am away from my private computer?

hey george.... this is something that brandon would know best....
there is likely some needed registry information and a few other metastock related items on your personal computor that will not be on the external hard drive ......
in other words, for sure there are crucial parts of the metastock program that are not in the common C:\Program Files\equis folder ......h

Hi Hayseed,
If C: drive has to have some files.
Is it possible to have it on External Hard Drive in special directory, load it on C: and then when I stop using that computer take it back to External Hard Drive, before I move to another computer?
In total, I’ll use 2 computers in that time, first for a month, second for a month and back to first for 2 months.
I would not like to load whole Metastock on those computers.
Is it possible?

You could try loading an operating system (Windows XP), MetaStock and your data onto the external drive and boot from this drive from whichever computer you are using. (You may have to ask the computer owner to change their BIOS settings to allow this)
This would work for all versions of MS, with the exception that MS10 may (?) use a hardware key based on more than just the HD identity? Brandon may be able to provide more information in due course, but it might be worth a try in the mean time?
Hope this helps.

Thanks for help, but looks that this might not work.
Just in case I loaded FCharts
http://www.spacejock.com/FreechartsSE.html
(Free charting program) which can be downloaded anywhere in the world, I’ll grab my data, some notes from my trading plan and that will have to do.
Pity that so much effort is made to stem pirates, that legitimate users are virtually stranded.
Maybe I should add an entry to Wish list, to make sure that legitimate owner has some flexibility and does not have to buy new copy when has to do something unusual, like trip or replacement of computer.

That, plus the minuscule changes in V10, are why I have no plans to upgrade my 9.1 - I loath being handcuffed with software I've purchased if I'm the only one using it.
