Does anyone know if it is possible to "offload" a group of individual data files (price/volume files) for use in other applications (Bulkowskis patter recognition for instance).
I want to select a group of about 120 securities, and easily offload each into single files for each one. I would then want to update each every 2-3 days.
Any way to do this without having to copy off each individually?
Thanks for your help!
Kadip

hey kadip..... you might have thought of this already but the easiest way that comes to mind would be to use the downloader..... under tools , select convert..... that allows you to export the data...... choose a source and a destination location.....
it would take less than a minute to export each security, possibly 20 seconds.... you can send the files anywhere and there are options to allow for overwrite or just apend the destination file.....h

I convert a group of files each day for use with Bulkowski's program. The instructions in the downloader manual for doing so are fairly straightforward. You select the files in the folder, specify a file transfer location, but do not specify new file name when converting bulk files. Also, each day I convert and replace rather than append. 200 securities takes about 20 seconds to convert. Would be nice to be able to select multiple folders at a time, but I have not figured out how to do that, if that is possible.

Hi all, It sounds like Kadip is wanting to make a personaised list of favourite stocks. Personally, I think the best way to do this is to have my data vendor provide me with a system whereby I can create my own lists that will be automatically updated when I download my data. hey kadip..... yes it should but might take a couple clicks ...... still less than 20 seconds time if all securities are in the same folder..... just select them all as bill mentioned above and click convert.... h

I also use the downloader to convert the data for Bull's app. The help file says that the date can be either yyyymmdd or mm/dd/yyyy formats, but mine always exports in the yyyymmdd format and I had to write a macro to convert it to mm/dd/yyyy. I could never figure out how to get it to convert directly to mm/dd/yyyy format.
Is there a way when converting to have the date be written as mm/dd/yyyy?

Mine converts the way yours does, yyyymmdd. Bulkowski's program has an option tab to toggle between several different formats, and this is one that is available, so no conversion is necessary for Bulkowski's program. He updates his program frequently, so you may want to check to see if you have the latest version.
Don't know if the Downloader Help reference is for the import feature vs conversion feature.

Thanks for the info Bill. I seen where I could make format changes and tried what I thought it should be but got an error. I will see if there is an update. So far it is easier for me to zap each file and reformat it. Each folder of 800 or so takes about 10 seconds to reformat, and that is on a virtual machine. So either way I should be good to go.
Thanks again for the info.
