I have a folder which has an Emaster file but no Master or Xmaster file.
Thios causes a problem as i can no longer view the stock names in the folder and the folder does not appear on my update list either.

I suspect this may have been due to an unexpected close scenario in Metastock 9.0 as there were some ~msfl.[censored] files in the folder, which i deleted and restarted Metastock to no avail.

Could anyone advise an esy way to recreate the Master / Xmaster files for this folder please?

TIA

The only option for possible recovery is to open the DownLoader and use the Tools-->Copy command to try and copy the securities to a new folder. This causes the Master Files to be rebuilt. However, it is very possible that Tools-->Copy will not be able to see the securities either, since it is the Master files that "index" the securities that are inside the folder. If the index files are not there, it doesn't know that F1.DAT = IBM, for example.

As a matter of courtesy i provide an update, should anyone else befall such a situation.

I had various files in my directory such as xmaster.tmp,master.tmp... and various .lck and . seq files.

obviously my machine crashed whilst metastock was updating or something.

I renamed the master.tmp to master and found that this resolved my problem.

I think i was rather lucky.
