There is no way to export specifically, but there is a file on your hard drive (C:\Program Files\Equis\MetaStock by default) called "favorites.dta" that contains all items within Favorites.

Asish,
The Favorites "folder" is not a true folder. It is actually a *.dta file, and all it contains is shortcut links to the files you "placed" in it. In other words, if I have a file, FGLB in my C:\MetaStock Data\my stocks folder, and I "place" it in the Favorites folder, all I am really doing is putting a notation of where FGLB is located (its pathname) in the Favorties.dta file. To back up FGLB, I have to backup the actual file itself in my C:\MetaStock Data\my stocks folder.
Although you can take your Favorites.dta file, after closing MetaStock to save any changes to the file, and move it to your laptop into the MetaStock folder there, the pathnames it contains may not have valid pathnames to your data files on the laptop. If your files are all in the exact same location, full path-wise, including the drive letter, then the links in
Favorites.dta should point to them OK. If they are not, then the links in Favorites.dta will not work, they will produce an error, probably "file not found" or something similar.
The History is also not a true folder, just a *.dta file with similar links. Same situation.

hey asish.... you mentioned exporting stock list ..... do you mean export the list per se , just the list of symbols itself, or the list with the exact charts....
and by that i mean, sometimes after running an exploration we might want to save the list, but not care about the charts themselves, we only want the list.... then later we can apply a very specfic template to that list...... is that perhaps your goal.....
in either event a method exists, but as pyradius mentioned its not export specific.......the infamous favorites.....h

hey asish.... again, just to be clear..... either the list 'only' or the list of 'exact charts' themselves, including all indicators, experts, lines, and such can be , saved, elsewhere....
i have posted somewhere the 3 or 4 quick steps taking less than a minute.... let us know if the list or the charts your trying to 'export'.....h

Hi,
Thanks to all for educating me.These .DTA files (if my Data Vendor is same ,ie,when the path is same) can it be stored in another Drive before formatting the Drive having MS so that next time when i load MS ,after formatting i do not have to follow all those tedious process again.
