As I am not a subscriber to Value Line, does anyone know the easiest way to obtain VL's list of individual securities for each of their 97 sectors ? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The easiest (and legal) way is to sign up for a subscription: http://www.valueline.com/ It is inexpensive and definitely worth it. I started my subscription this year and wish I had done so long ago. The stock screener is icing on the cake. They have a 3-month trial program for a discounted fee. If you want to look into other fundamental screens, you might check out IBD: http://www.investors.com/ I've been with them since I started trading and believe in O'neal's system. It's a bit cheaper and the lists are good. However, you won't get the stock screening capabilities that ValueLine offers.

Thanks for the reply, I know signing up is an alternative and VL has a lot of great stuff, but I thought there might be a public listing of the individual securities comprising the sectors, floating around somewhere, that I could easily download. As a subscriber, how is the listing obtained ? Is it a simple download from the VL site ? Thanks for the help.

Yes, you can easily download a list of securities that are based on your screening criteria. The entire database is 1,700 stocks that are divided into sectors. The screener will also work with mutual funds, options and convertibles. The entire VL universe is available free here: http://www.valueline.com...up/current.aspx?keyword= HTH, G

Hey skypilot, I don't mean to butt in but have you tried your local library? I use to use their information for free at my local library they had and still have a legal subscription. Its worth giving them a call... It was the mean reason for me getting a library card. :D

StorkBite, Thanks for the link. I can manipulate the 1700 symbols and their respective sectors by cutting & pasting into a spreadsheet then into the downloader. A lot of work, but can be done. Dieselpr, Yes I have checked the VL at my local library. Problem is it is in print form. I need to get the specific symbols into the respective sector folders in MS, can't do that with printed pages. Thank you all for your suggestions.
