Hi folks ... upgraded to MS 9.1 and running XP Pro SP2. Using Australian Paritech MS software/data supplier and with upgrade each time I run Database Maintenace program my alpha A-Z folders get jammed with ~msfl files which stops Metastock in it's tracks. I can delete these ~msfl files manually but problem simply reoccurs and Paritech tells me the problem is with Windows system files and my problemo ... as an 8 year customer I think I deserve more. Can anyone please help here ... all thoughts appreciated.

Every time MetaStock (or related applications such as the Paritech db application) opens a MS data file, the following temporary files are created in the data file's folder: ~MSFL.INX ~MSFL.LCK ~MSFL.SEC ~MSFL.USR When MetaStock and other apps close access to the MS data files, the data files should also be closed and the temporary files should be deleted by the application. If the offending application is not closing the MS data files properly, they remain hanged open causing data access problems for MetaStock. I would definitely insist on having this matter resolved by the developers of the application creating the problem. jose '-)

Hi Jose, Thanks for your reply ... you saved my [censored] mate. I know you from your Pegasus trading system ... great stuff. I took on Paritech today following your info which forced Paritech to take reponsibility for the problem. Turned out to be a bad CD on DataDirector2 followed by a bad replacement download from their website which was then replaced by a further download of an updated DM.exe which finally worked solving the problem. Happy chappie once again but reminded that I have been out of biz for a month over this and around $5000 lost biz. Thanks again mate... Thanks also to Wabbit for info on chum Richard Dale and his http://www.premiumdata.net/ ... all good stuff.
