Hi, I collect data on my tower CPU during the market hours. At night though, I sometimes use my laptop to log on to Esignal. The problem is that MS 9.0 keeps trying to log me back on. Thus it's almost impossible to use the Esignal program on my laptop. I'd like to know the easiest way to be able to use Esignal on my laptop and still log back in on my tower to collect data... Thanks

Under Start>All Programs>Equis International you should have a shortcut for MetaStock Professional Off-Line Mode. You can use this to bypass logging into the eSignal Data Manager.

Sounds like he wants to be logged in, but that he doesn't want it to continue to try and reconnect on his desktop when he connects on his laptop. So, the off-line mode probably won't help him.

Sorry, I misread that. You cannot be logged into the same eSignal account on two different PC's if that is what you are trying to do. The behaviour can be erratic at best. You will either be kicked offline on one PC or you will fail to connect on the 2nd PC that is trying to log in or sometimes both PC's will end up disconnecting from eSignal.

Thanks for the replies. I don't want to be connected to Esignal at the same time on 2 PC's. What I want is to use my tower during regular market hours to collect data. Then at night use my laptop to use Esignal. But, when I close down Esignal on my tower it will pop the data manager back up and say "real time quotes re started". Well, if I also close down MS 9.0 first and then Esignal the same thing happens. Is there any way to just turn off Esignal on one computer and make it work on another after the market closes? Thanks again for all of your replies...

hey carpitrade..... kinda had a feeling that was what you were refering to.... its a common occurence for me also.... most often i just shut down the other computer completely but there are times when i want both on.... just as your describing...... closing metastock first then waiting a few minutes then exiting esignal by the exit method, don't 'x' out, exit out, usually works for me..... exit is under file heading on the esignal data manager box that comes up with meta pro start up..... there is a seting somewhere that specfies when to start the realtime app.... the 2 choices are , always at start up of computer and the other selection is only when a realtime program is started.... make sure the selection is not set on 'always at start of computer'...... the esignal data manager is coming from meta itself..... so even though it appears meta is not running , it is..... look in the task manager, click, 'control, alt, delete' , all 3 at same time to bring up task manager..... look for 'mswin.exe', click/highlight it then click 'end process'..... 'eqdatsrv.exe' and 'winros.exe' should not be running.... its the 'mswin' thats hung up....... would have answered eariler but was not clear on true issue.......holler back if you still have troubles.....h

hayseed, Thanks. I like to use the logmein.com to control the main home computer. That's why I don't want to shut it down. I looked for the mswin.exe and could not find it (when I had shut down Esignal and MS). I did see the eqdatsrv.exe so I ended that process. It stopped it from logging in. Is it ok if I just end the eqdasrv.exe? Thanks again to all that replied.

hey carpitrade....... yes that's ok.... for some reason meta gets hung up and we'll have to manualy stop it.... if there ever is a time when you try to start meta and you get the message something like ' metastock is already running' , just look in the task manager for it and 'end process'..... then meta should start up ok.....h
