If you haven't already done so, check out some of the features that will be available on the new forum preview. If you have any comments or suggestions, please put them here. All input is valuable and appreciated. One of the capabilities of the new forum is to receive RSS reader feeds. We had this working for a while in this forum, but the interest seemed only cultish. I'd like to promote this new feature, but need some assistance in selecting the feeds of interest to you. If you have any thoughts on this subject, please let me know here. Anything that is business, financial or investment related ought to be OK. Other topics can be reviewed for appropriateness on a case by case basis. Thanks! :D

What RSS readers do people use / recommend?
I currently use RSSReader 1.0.88.0 from http://www.rssreader.com/ It's not bad. The minimum refresh rate is 10 minutes. Sometimes new posts do not appear in the list so you have to manually sort the posts on occassion, but all in all its a pretty good package. It's also free, so the right price!
I tried opening an RSS thread in FireFox ThunderBird, but it played havoc with my cookies and refresh rates etc. The normally good folk at Mozilla have been reluctant to answer my email asking for upgrade and advice on this functionality, so I have stopped experimenting with it.

Other than the feed for this site, I get all the Australian news from ABC, Ch7 and Ch9. None of these would serve much purpose in the new Forum. I used to take some of the overseas stuff, but its all the same and gets repeated/retransmitted that many times that it all eventually ends up in one of the Australian feeds.
I also get a couple of blogs from around the place, on different (non-MS, non-investing) subjects. These wouldn't be that useful, although these can be occassionally amusing.

Hey K-
Thanks for the suggestion. I have Market Pulse on the list already. Was there another particular Market Watch feed that you track every day?
Wabbit-
For forum purposes, the new software has a built-in RSS reader. There is nothing else required... other than an internet browser. :=)
Personally, I started out with NewsGator, but I haven't used it in a while since Google came out with their own free reader, G-Reader. Really, who can argue with a name like that? lol! It updates fast enough for me, though our forum updates a little slow. P & I tried to figure that out once before, but obviously it didn't solve anything. If you don't already have the link, check out G-Reader here.
This whole RSS thing is huge... I think I made that bloggish-type comment a long time ago here on this forum. It just hasn't had a lot of attention. I hope to change that with the new software implementation. Sooner or later people will have to accept that RSS is now a part of online communications. One of the cool features of the new News Reader is that it will show video feeds too. I included a screen capture of the RSS section in the announcements forum. Other than that, I have a lot of learning to do for setting up the new RSS links. It sounds simple (and it probably is), but the permissions are giving me a fit at the moment.

Ok. I'll add that to the RSS wishlist. I may wind up with only Reuters feeds... I'll let you know when I get it together.
