Alert when it reaches the price, time, line...
Hi.
1)
I would like to know if the following alerts (sound &/or text) are possible:
- when it reaches a particular price
- when it reachs a particular price AND can stay above for a fixed period
- (I draw uptrend/downtrend lines around the chart) Alert if it touches any point on the lines
2)
Is it possible to choose whether the alert is loopable (ie alert once ONLY if the condition is met) or not (ie alert every time when the condition is met)?

Yes, this is all possible. Look up how to write an Alert Expert in your User's Manual. If you get stuck, post the code back here and a description of your problem. You will also want to check out the free training videos which may be of interest to you for focused problems such as how to write an Expert.

For your "yes" answer, does it include the question 2?
As to Alert Expert in help file, do you refer to Expert Advisor - Alert tab?
However only 1 expert adivsor can be attached at one time, so there's no point to create another Expert Advisor for alerts, if I need to detach mine first.
Is there any workaround?

Yes it does... you can codify the system to only trigger on the first event and then ignore the rest....

You only need one Expert attached. Look at the Alert Condition section and modify it to meet your needs. You can continue your present alerts or modify them.

Do you mean I modify my existing expert by adding alerts to it?
If it is what you mean, sorry I couldn't do that since the expert is not mine. I couldn't modify it.
Any workaround?

No; if the Expert is PW protected, then you can't add to the alerts. As far as I know, you'll have to build your own Expert to design your own alert.

Or is it possible to attach 2 Expert Advisors at the same time?

yes; you can make a custom dll to alert, though I don't know of any current code examples in the public domain. The easiest way to do what you are saying is to write an indicator that will flag your condition on the screen with a binary-type output. Alternatively, you could use a DDE link to Excel and set your alert condition there. In Excel, you can absolutely get an external alert. I think I posted a sample of this a while ago in the d/l section. It's a little in-depth, but it does work.

You can look up DDE connections in the user's manual. Once you get the data into Excel, you will need to be proficient enough to write your alert program in VBA or purchase an alert program such as Spinnaker.

Perhaps another third party dolution, in lieu of Excel, might be something like Medved QuoteTracker. Go google.

Really... [-X if you'd spend more quality time with your user's manual and less time courting GOOG then you'd see that DDE is the way to go... :P
