Hi Ive written an indicator and would like to know how I can make it plot against another indicator rather than the original chart. Im importing data from excel into an inner window, then want plot my indicator against that data. It keeps plotting against the base secutity though, even if my impoted data changes colour. Ive used the ref p in my formulas because I read this would referencing whatever was highlighted. Regards Robert

Hey Rob- That sounds fishy... if your underlying security is real, then you should be able to test your indicator pretty easily. This is what I did... Using 'CHY' as the security (can be anything) the price plot is in the 30-40 range. I created a set of numbers in Excel from ~0.7 - 8.0 (something drastically different than the underlying plot). Then I linked those numbers to MS via OLE in a new inner window. Now, your method is correct, you must drag your indicator on top of the linked data until it changes colors. Note that some of the indicators look for multiple parts of the data array, e.g., O H L C, etc. A simple straight line plot will not do it and the indicator will not plot. Check that each component of your personal indicator will plot. To see what I mean, you should be able to test the concept using the Moving Average indicator though. That will plot. At least on my security and test data. I've included my test data... nothing special, but you could use it to check your results with mine.

Thankyou for your reply. Ive done as you suggested and I can plot ok with a m/a, so it must be something to do with my formula which I shall review. At least I know Its possible. Thanks Again. Regards Robert

got it. must make a note to reread formulas 10 times!!. Id used 'p' in the calculating parts, but 'c' in the plotting of results. A lesson well learnt. Thanks. Regards Robert
