Hi, Ive linked some data from excel to an index in metastock. This part not a problem. What Id like to know, is do I have to have a chart already in meta for excel, or can I create a blank sheet. Does thst make sense. Basically the data in excel has no relevance to any charts in excel. I know I could convert it in downloader and use it that way. But the data in excel is from a feed that updates every to seconds so I need to dynamically link it. If I do this into any chart it works great. The problem is the values will range from 1.1min to 10max, therefore if I use a chart I need to use a share in this price range, fiddly. I did wonder if I could just creat an imaginary chart say with 10 dates, and values at 1.1. The time scale is also irelevent, unless there is a way to use the timescale from excel, which is in seconds. Hope this makes sense
Regards Robert

LOL! I'm a little bit lost, but it sounds like you are wanting an OLE connection between Excel and Metastock. Metastock will then plot the Excel data directly. More info in the User's Manual. Some examples on the forum, but the directory info in these samples will need to be changed to reflect your local directories.

The chart has to have security. You do not need to post it in the same windows as the security, Open a new innerwindow on that chart for the data from excel.
There has to be a security on the chart. Or import the data using The Downloader and open the chart that way.

Forgot that part of the question...
If you're not interested in a particular security, you could create a bogus security in the Downloader. i.e., MetaOLE with zeros for data. Then, close that inner window (the base security). You will be prompted about how to unhide that window if you wanted to later. With OLE, your plot will be active. That is, when Excel is updated, MS will update too.
Actually, it sounds like another wishlist item... being able to create a blank security that can receive OLE data.
