I'm having trouble with the Data Window. It works fine on my desktop, but I'm having trouble on my laptop. It's cutting off part of my data's date. So if it's 10/20/2005 I'll see only part of the zero in the October month 10... So it'll look like 0/20/2005. It's really hard to see what I'm looking at... It's also cutting off the intraday charts time... So all I'm seeing is the minutes and barely part of the hour... So if it's 12:45am I'll see part of 2 and none of the 1. So it looks like 2:45 am. But it's even worse because I can only see part of the 2.
Please help, I've looked at the book, the help menu's, searched this forum etc...

The Data Winbdows does not have any setting to change the font. This is deteremined from different items in the program.
Have you chnaged any fonts in Metstock?
What display size are you running on your lapotp?

Doc,
I have a hi-res 17" laptop running 1920x1200. It's crystal clear and I enjoy it detailed. I just tried it with different settings and the same thing happened. It really bugs me. It's difficult to get a clear and accurate picture of data when you don't know what time it is or the date.
I don't think I have adjusted anything regarding fonts.

hey carpitrade.... was wondering which version of meta your running, it might make a difference... which data window are we talking about, the one on the left or right..... and do you notice a font size or alignment difference btween the 2 computers.....
i'm using meta 9.1.... as you can see in that picture its confusing, cause if you can't see the 10 you must not be seeing the word date.... which would mean a real alignment problem....
we can change settings in microsoft windows, or the computer might have came with different settings, that can drasticaly change fonts and such in metastock.... i changed the windows settings for 'tool tips' to illiusrtate it in that picture which caused meta to increase the size.... there are many such settings that will differ from computer to computer but esp from desktop to laptop.....
kinda got off track there so summing it up , which version are you running, what window are we talking about, do you notice a font size difference, do you notice an alignment difference......h

Hayseed, Thanks so much for the info. It's MS 9.0. I do not notice much of a difference between the 2 PC's. The window I'm talking about is the one that's on the left that says dia. It does not cut off the date or the - It just tucks the 10/ under the - area. I don't know how to change the font for ms windows font. I'd love it if you could help. Thanks so much...

That is the best set of instructions I've seen.

Hayseed, Thanks, It did fix it. The only problem was the font was set already at 8. I had to go down to 6 to make it all fit. Now it's difficult to read because I have such a high resolution on my screen. But, at least it's there. Thanks again.....

hey carpitrade.... interesting, then it must be another microsoft setting..... noticed your resolution was 1920x1200, that must be one heck of a graphics card you have..... mine is maxed out at 1440 by 900..... high res can have both a positive and at times a negative effect.... wouldn't rule it out as being at least part of the problem.....
my new years resolution is not to be envious of someones higher resolution..... will study on it further..... h

Hey Carp-
I'm running 1920x1200 too. One thing that affects my fonts is PROPERTIES | APPEARANCE | FONT SIZE. I set mine to 'Large'. I'm too lazy to look it up, but I seem to recall reading that it increases the selected font size by 20%. Extra large by 40%.
H- high res has its advantages. I've never seen plasma, but... I can't imagine a clearer picture existing anywhere. Besides, I thought your New Year's resolution was a million watt Christmas 2006 display! :P

Resolution is limited by both the graphics card and the monitor. I run an BFG 6800 GT which supports up to 2048x1536, and my Samsung 21" monitor also supports 2048x1536 with 72Hz refresh. This is great for charting if you only have one monitor (lots of screen real estate!), but it might be a bit excessive in a dual monitor setup 8)
