I am attempting to use a chart template that worked successfully in MS 6.52 which contains a window showing the security, OI, and two indicators. In MS 9.1, when I write text on the chart, it disappears after I click outside the text box (sometimes on the same chart the text writing function works properly, it seems to be dependent on the location of the text).
If I remove the indicators, the text function works properly. I can add ONE indicator with a new scale on the left and the text function works properly. However, the Value item in the Data Window reads the indicator value and NOT the security value as desired.
I have imported the MS 6.52 template into MS 9.1 and also recreated the template from scratch in MS 9.1. Neither approach worked.
I have tried every combination of scaling with no success.
Why does a template that worked in MS 6.52 not work in MS 9.1?
Is there a way of forcing the Value item in the Data Window to use the security scale (right scale) instead of the indicator scale (left scale)?

try this -
1) press TAB repeatedly until you'll see TEXT on your status bar and if you look carefully you'll notice your text upper handles highligthed in the inner window lower left corner;
2) now you got your text object selected: press ALT+RETURN and TEXT PROPERTIES pops up;
3) uncheck ANCHOR TO DATE and next you can drag the text whereever inside the inner window you like and it'll stay put.

Thank you for your response.
Unfortunately, UNanchoring the text renders the chart meaningless if either the amount of data viewed is changed or the chart is scrolled since the chart moves but the text referencing a chart feature stays fixed at the same position on the screen.

hey bakraz.... no clue as to whats causing the problem but i see what you mean.... just as you say its only sometimes and someplaces, later after fiddlin with the chart you can come back to the same place and the text will apply.... you might ought to push that up the line with equis, they might give it a look...... give patrick or doc a holler , they might have a clue..... still tryin to figure a work around....h

The Text is being achor to some thing other that the price data. This happen on chart that have several indicators or an indicator mey be close to the price bars. Try placing the Text box closer to the price bars. Then you may want to try recreate the template applying the indictors in different order this may correct the issue.

hey doc.... i see what you mean.... it can be just one indicator on the chart and the indicator can be far away from the price bars for the text not to apply.... but just like you mentioned moving verticaly closer to the price allows the text to stick..... some reason i was thinking the text was always referencing horizontaly with price and verticaly with time in a x/y coordinate fashion..... appears thats not the case ..... thanks...... h

Building further on the solution suggested by Mr. Doc, you may right click on the TEXT BOX and select "Scaling..." - here we will get a dialog box to select the plot on which to anchor the Text.

hey smg.... thanks .... never had noticed that option.... forgot to mention earlier a workaround to the text issue was to first place it in an area that will allow it..... then drag and drop to the area you want it that will not allow it and it shall be..... thanks again for your pointer.....h
