(Almost) every time I open Downloader and want to merge files, the window opens up in different folder locations. I am not able to: a) find what determines in which folder the window opens b) find a place where I can specify the default location Any suggestions/solutions?

The path in the merge is the first folder listed in the download. Hope this helps Regards Doc

hey andrea.... that can be a tad annoying can't it..... metastock will by default load the folder which holds the last security you have accessed in the downloader.... that feature is most often helpful but at times can cause an extra step.... if you don't want to 'browse' for the folder, first using the downloader, open a security in the folder your after then close it.... then the merge should load the proper folder.... yeah its an extra step, but thats 'windows'..... h

Thanks, pointed me in the right direction, and I found an even easier way. Open a security from the appropriate folder in Metastock (not downloader as you say - that works for me only whilst you remain in downloader; the minute you close it and come back to it, the folder location is gone again). You can then close it, and (forever) thereafter, whenever you try and merge from downloader (even after closing and opening downloader, and even after closing and opening Metastock), the proper folder tree gets displayed (as long as you do not open a different security in between, of course)! Meaning, no extra step required. Once again, thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Still, a default file location option would be nicer yet.
